Today we’re going to take a look at Your sites Legal Documents; I know it’s not fun or exciting, but it is pretty important and needs to be covered…
Obviously you need them to give yourself some legal protection just in case one day you get a disgruntled customer or visitor who feels the need to come after you or your company for whatever reason.
But more importantly for most webmasters nowadays you need a Privacy Policy (at least) for Facebook Ads compliance.
If you happen to be a lawyer yourself, or have a family member or friend who is, then you can probably get these documents done for free, but for the rest of us we’re going to need to outlay a bit of cash to make sure the documents we use are actually effective.
The good news is it’s a one off investment and there’s some great resources out there to get them done for a fairly reasonable price.
One of the best we’ve found is a site called TermsFeed.com
This site will build your Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, Terms of Service, Terms of Service and Returns and refunds policy documents for you.
There are templates that you can download and edit for free, or you can use the generator to create bespoke documents including the elements you need based on the type of business you run.
As a guide, our Privacy Policy and Terms Of Service Documents cost $44 and $69 respectively, your cost may vary based on the elements you need included.
The downside is this site doesn’t offer documents for:
Anti Spam Policy
Copyright Notice
Disclaimers
FTC Compliance
DMCA Compliance
Social Media Disclosure
I have found a very good source for these documents as well and you can check out the full offer here, but don’t buy from this page:
Website Legal Documents Templates
The page above gives you details of the full offer, but I’ve managed to get a 30% discount for you if you do decide to grab these, here’s the discount link:
30% Discount for Website Legal Doc Templates
These are ‘Plu-n-Play’ and can be downloaded in pdf, Microsoft Word or Text file formats, but you may need to update them with your company details, contact info and other details before you pop them on your site.
Make sure you get your sites legal documents in place asap, before you need them!
*Note: If you’re in Europe you’re also going to need a Cookies Notification, we’ll take a look at the easiest way to do this in an upcoming blog post.
